Hans
Cottage Botel is a home to numerous creatures of the lake, the forest and the
surrounding trees.
During
my visit I observed crocodiles and waterfowl in the lake and even fed them myself.
I also had the opportunity of sitting at the back of crocodile for a
photograph.
The
pleasure I derived in the tricks of the local weaverbirds as the males compete
in nest building to impress females is not to be understated. Different species of
monkeys are in the vicinity and intermittently become temporary residents of
the Botel.
They have a bar and popular spot for both visitors and locals alike. Their menu features traditional Ghanaian dishes and Continental cuisine. Most of the vegetables they serve are grown right in their garden by themselves.
I joined a group to embark on a one-hour nature walk in the hotel forest to visit monkeys, plants and resident farmers. I didn’t leave in idle or spare their other facilities like telephone, state-of-the-art high speed Internet & Email facility, Swimming Pool - Health and Fitness facilities available. Tennis Court - racquets and balls available. Pool Table and Darts are also accessible. If you don’t happy yourselves who else will?
In my interaction with the Botel manager, He said, ’’On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights and Public Holidays, we feature a live band’’ and fortunately for me I was coincidentally there from Thursday to Sunday morning to experience it myself. I wish you were there to witness it yourselves because telling you will appear to you like some cooked exaggerated story. Visit them one day because ’’seeing’’ they say ’’is believing’’
He added that, ’’ We do special cakes for Graduations, Weddings, Birthdays, Retirement Parties and other special occasions. And we offer full catering services for any occasion. We have also introduced a Daily Buffet Breakfast and Buffet Lunch at Hans Cottage to serve our guests and visitors quickly’’
For my lunch and breakfast, I relaxed in any of their numerous tranquil restaurant areas while I watch the resident crocodiles and birds. In the evenings I benefit from the quiet solitude of their rural environment while I dined and sip cold drinks.
He also commented on nearby amenities and attractions. ’’ Hotel medical doctor is 4 km away. Hospital and a Police Station are also 4 km away - the hotel has its own private security service as well. Unblemished beaches are 20 km away (Brenu Beach and the like). Kakum National Park rain forest with its mid-air Walkway is 12 km away. UNESCO World Heritage Site coastal Forts and Castles are 4 km away. Historic Cape Coast University is 4 km away. Banks, Forex Bureau and Post office are 4 km away. Public transportation - bus stop and tro-tro station are 100 m away. Efutu Ostrich Farm and Game Park is 3 km away
Groups enrooted to or from Kakum Park frequently stop at the restaurant for lunch or refreshments. The place is mosquito-free since the fish in the lake devour all the larvae.
After life’s busy and challenging encounters, please make some time to visit places like this; enjoy nature and have real fun –it will even make you healthier. I have pledge that if God permit and grant me my best half, the consummation of my wife and or honey moon of my marriage will be spent there.
I will never be left out any opportunity I get to visit Hans Cottage –been it as a group or individual. Visit them one day and experience it yourself.
