ELECTION OFFICIAL in Dec. 2012 and in Dec. 2008
Electoral Commission of Ghana is a body mandated by Articles 43, 44 and 45 of the 1992 constitution of Ghana to oversee all elections in Ghana. During elections, the Commission engages thousands of Election Officials of various categories in temporary elections duties. They are not formally part of the Commission, but their services are so vital to the work of the Commission that they must be regarded as an informal part of the structure of the Electoral Commission. I was privileged to be part of such officials.
- I successfully supervised a team of five (5) Polling Assistants to conduct elections in a pooling station during the 2012 general elections in Ghana at Koforidua without blame from the various polling station executives, the general public whom we served and the entire political parties at large.
- I successfully worked as a Polling Assistant, reconciling the voter register with the Voter’s identity card in the main 2008 general elections and issuing out ballot papers to Voters, identifying them with indelible ink and educating them on the right way to cast their ballots during the run off in the 2008 general election
